10 must-try iftar spots in KL this Ramadan 2025 for a hassle-free night out

How’s your 2025 going? Time flies — it feels like New Year’s Eve was just yesterday, and now the Holy Month for Muslims is almost here. Ramadan — the month of forgiveness, goodwill, and fasting — is what makes this highly-anticipated period truly special. It reminds us to practice moderation and gratitude by experiencing hunger, encouraging us to become better versions of ourselves.

While the essence of Ramadan is about restraint, a satisfying iftar is essential to break your fast on a positive note. A nourishing meal energises us for the night’s religious practices, especially Tarawih prayers.

I understand how challenging it can be to find the perfect spot to break your fast, especially in a bustling Muslim-majority city. That’s why I’ve curated a list of 10 must-try iftar restaurants in KL — each offering a reasonable price point and the option to reserve ahead to skip the queues.

The buffet menu at Lisette’s Cafe & Bakery, especially during Ramadan, is something I look forward to every year. After trying their spread for the first time in 2021, I simply fell in love and never looked back.

If you’re doubting my high praise, just know this: I am a fan of all poultry and red meat. A carnivore, if you will. But what does this have to do with Lisette being good? Well, here’s the thing — Lisette itself is a vegan cafe, and their buffet spread is fully vegetarian-friendly.

Lisette - Buffet

This Ramadan, Lisette’s special buffet begins on 4 Mar, available from 6.30pm to 9pm. Keep in mind that the schedule varies by location: Bangsar on Tuesdays, Empire Subang on Wednesdays, and Sunway 163 Mall on Thursdays.

While the official menu isn’t out yet, you can expect a delightful selection of vegetarian dishes infused with local flavours — think satay, laksa Johor, fresh salads, stuffed fried vegetables with hummus dips, and a variety of desserts. At just RM65++ per person, paired with a cosy ambience and delicious fare, Lisette’s is the perfect spot for iftar.

I can’t personally wait for Ramadan to arrive — so be sure to book early by phone or on their website to snag your spot!

Whenever I’m craving no-frills and yummy Thai food with a cosy dining experience that I won’t have to lose my mind over (thank you, anxiety), Bhai Jim Jum is always my go-to spot. Just the previous year alone, I had my iftar there at least twice in a single month. While my favourite outlet in AEON Maluri recently closed down, they still have 4 more in Klang Valley that you can visit.

Bhai Jim Jum is known for its hot pot — the “jim jum” in the name hints at that — and Thai BBQ, but I’ve found that their other dishes are even more satisfying. Breaking your fast with a hearty bowl of rice, a flavourful soup, fresh veggies, and a variety of protein and snack options makes for a more fulfilling meal.

My personal favourites are the Red Tom Yum and White Tom Ka soups. Prices vary by protein: RM28.90 for chicken, RM38.90 for seafood, and RM42.90 for prawns. I like pairing these soups with either the Cashew Nut Chicken (RM22.90) or the Crispy Garlic Squid (RM28.90).

For those who prefer individual servings, the à la carte menu offers great options — my top picks being the Pineapple Fried Rice (RM18.90) and Seafood Pad Thai (RM18.90).

Keep in mind that while they do accept reservations, you’ll need to book your table in person earlier in the day before iftar.
