10 best restaurants in Takashimaya for delicious food after a hard day of retail therapy
Takashimaya Shopping Centre at Orchard Road is one of the most iconic landmarks of Singapore and a must-go shopping destination for locals and tourists alike. Over 130 specialty stores occupy 6 levels of shopping and dining, including the flagship stores of several international brands.
Here are the 10 best places to reward yourself with delicious food and drink after a hard day of retail therapy. Remember to bookmark this!
1. Hazuki (#04-18A)
Only 12. The main dining room at Hazuki accommodates only a dozen patrons at one time. Perhaps that exclusivity is the reason why one of the finest dining spaces here is also one of the best hidden. For diners seeking even greater seclusion, there is a luxuriously-appointed private dining room for just 6.
Diners will be in the capable hands of kappo chef Kenta Yamauchi, an alumnus of Michelin-starred Gion Fukushi in Kyoto. Chef Kenta marries the discipline and traditions of his training with a personal creative touch to create wondrous masterpieces of culinary art.
A tasteful ambience envelops guests, with Gucci homeware and Kagami crystalware gracing the tables. Place settings are chiselled out from 1,000-year-old yakusugi (cedar wood).
In this refined and opulent but markedly understated interior, diners are treated to an elevated dining experience of the finest imported ingredients. So exclusive are some of them that they are not even supplied to most restaurants even in Japan itself! Definitely worth a stop-by when you’re at Takashimaya.

2. Ma Maison (#04-27)
Ma Maison means ‘My Home’ in French and that is the philosophy behind this international restaurant chain. The Takashimaya branch specialises in Japanese-Western cuisine.
It’s a cosy place with a layout actually reminiscent of a home. Dining tables are arranged between shelves of books in some places and shelves of spices in others. Subtle lighting adds to the pleasant atmosphere.
Ma Maison’s bento boxes are a neat and convenient option any time of day. Top of the menu is their Sirloin Steak Bento Box (S$23.80). It comes with 180g sirloin steak, fried chicken, potato salad, cabbage and rice.
At the other end of the spectrum is the Omurice Bento Box (S$17.80). It’s a more compact and simple set of omelette, potato salad, ketchup rice and brown sauce.
The Miyazaki Pork Steak with Whiskey Butter Sauce (S$28.80++) has whiskey-flavoured butter sauce on 160g Premium Japanese Pork Steak, served with Fried Vegetables and Potatoes.

3. Paradise Teochew Restaurant (#03-10)
Paradise Teochew Restaurant at Takashimaya is the epitome of Teochew cuisine, spread across 5,300 sq. ft. of dining space. The authentic fare is characteristically built around natural tastes and flavours while being light on seasoning.
One side of the restaurant runs along the edge of the building; it features floor to high ceiling windows with a pleasant view. Decor is stylish contemporary, with gold highlights accentuating the simple dual tone tables and chairs. VIP rooms are available for private dining, too.
On the menu are over 100 dishes and dim sum choices. From the appetisers, the Handmade Traditional Pork Roll (4 pc) (S$11.80) is a good choice. I recommend Braised Mustard Green with Shredded Conpoy and Shrimp Roe (S$26) from the mains.
Teochew cuisine is known for its seafood, and the Stir-fried Pomfret Fillet with Tomato and Salted Vegetable (S$44) does the reputation justice.

4. Angus House (#04-25)
2022 marks 30 years since Angus House opened its doors at Takashimaya. Over the past 3 decades, it has established itself as one of the premier destinations for wagyu steak as well as yakiniku.
Not content to be limited to any cuisine, Angus House also serves a range of Japanese-style Italian dishes and desserts. Their bread is baked in-house fresh every day.
Top of the menu is Japanese Miyazaki Wagyu Sirloin Steak, which comes in 200g, 250g and 300g servings. there is also Australian Wagyu, available as a slab of 150g, 200g, 250g and 300g. Kids 12 and younger have a special steak: the Minute Steak for Children (150g or 200g). Steaks are served with a Japanese homemade sauce and served on a sizzling hotplate.
You may choose to adorn your spaghetti with authentic Italian sauces or Japanese style toppings. Among the most popular choices are Spaghetti Smoked Salmon with Mushroom Cream Sauce and Spaghetti Chicken & Mushroom with Tomato Sauce.

5. Mrs Pho House (#B2-36A)
Everyone has their own ‘Mrs. Pho’, an allusion to the mothers, grandmothers and aunts on whose food we grow up. This Vietnamese restaurant chain is an ode to those women. At Takashimaya, their outlet is an intimate 32-seater with hot pot as well as an extensive à la carte menu.
There are 4 choices of soup base for hot pot: Crab Bisque (S$38/S$48), Nourishing Collagen Pepper (S$23/S$28), Vietnamese Perilla Mutton (S$25/S$30) and Herbal Chicken Mushroom (S$23/S$28). Hot pot add-ons are divided into Seafood, Meat, Mushroom, Vegetables and Noodles/Rice. The pricing is competitive for the quality.
Mrs. Pho’s à la carte menu features traditional Vietnamese charcoal hotpot and barbeque. There is a heavy French influence, as well as shades of a Chinese, Thai and Cambodian touch.
One delicious option is the Stir Fry Crabmeat Noodle (S$17.90). Personally, I always make sure to also ask for the Mixed Rolls Platter (S$12.90)— Vietnamese rolls are addictive!

6. Tonkichi (#04-24)
Tonkichi is a tonkatsu (deep fried and breaded pork cutlet) specialist that has been around since 1993. Their signature katsu is prepared with a special in-house batter and fried in fresh oil to produce the crispiest skin while retaining a tender and juicy bite of meat inside.
Among the most delicious sets with meat prepared this way is the Kagoshima Kurobuta Rosu Katsu Set (S$23.50). It comes with rice, soup, salad and sauce. The restaurant also serves sushi & sashimi, as well as ramen sets.
One of the latest additions to their menu is also one of the best: the Grilled Shirobuta Pork Belly Don Set. There is the ideal balance between lean meat for value and fat content for flavour. The tender Shirobuta pork belly slices is expertly grilled to the point of slight charring. It gives the meat a wonderful smoky character.

7. Imperial Treasure Fine Shanghai Cuisine (#04-22)
With an impeccable menu that spans hundreds of dishes, Imperial Treasure Fine Shanghai Cuisine has something for everyone. They also have an entire menu just for vegetarians. The theme is refined classic Shanghai cuisine reimagined for the modern epicure.
Presentation is remarkably creative, particularly for dishes such as the Orchid Lettuce Stem (S$16). Sharing dishes also get the artistic treatment with soups presented in pristine-white adorable pots. If you are in a group and feel like soup, try the Double Boiled Chicken Soup with Chinese Ham & Chinese Cabbage (S$180, serves 10).
The Braised Beancurd & Minced Pork with Spicy Mapo Sauce (S$26) may look simple but it’s an imperial treasure trove of wonderful flavours accompanied by an equally wondrous fragrance.
The dessert menu is awash with delicious visually-appealing sweet delights. I recommend the Sweetened Glutinous Rice with Assorted Fruits (Pan-fried/Steamed) (S$30/S$60). It’ll certainly be a sweet end to your shopping day at Takashimaya!

8. COCA (#04-23)
Wowing Singapore since 1987 but founded in Bangkok 30 years before that, COCA marries authentic Thai cuisine with traditional elements of Cantonese home-style cooking.
COCA’s Thai-Chinese concept is renowned for its hotpot selection, especially its stupendous array of seafood hotpot ingredients. Much of this popularity stems from the famous COCA sauce, which comes from a recipe used at home by the founder’s wife.
Just as popular are its scrumptious specialties such as Fish Glue, Shrimp Paste and Handmade Dumplings, along with fresh seasonal vegetables and meat. Diners can also select from a wide range of premium foods such as the Lobster Buffet and Hua Diao Chicken Phoenix Pot.
The Premium Seafood Buffet (S$82++ for adults, S$38++ for kids) is a 100-minute all-you-can-eat extravaganza. Included are 1 glass of wine, free flow of selected beverages, additional soup options & selected Premium Broth, complimentary Appetiser, Mala Xiang Gua, unlimited Seasonal Seafood and 1 dessert.
COCA extends generous discounts to senior citizens and kids dine free for every 2 paying adults. These benefits make it the ideal destination for a family hotpot session after shopping at Takashimaya.

9. KOI Thé Express (#B2-37C)
KOI Thé is the best choice at Takashimaya for original Taiwan Bubble Milk Tea. This Taiwanese company creates its very own brand of magic in every cup using natural ingredients.
Part of the reason for the wonderful multidimensional flavour in each sip is due to the water they use. Rather than brewing tea in artificially-purified water, they opt for soft water.
Prices are reasonable with flavoured teas such as Jasmine Green Tea (S$2.80/S$3.50) costing a fraction of what you would pay at other international brands. Their Fruity Green Tea (S$5.90/S$7.90) is made from scratch using real fruit.
The Milk Tea range stretches from the basic Jumbo Milk Tea (S$4.40/S$5.40) to the local favourite Ovaltine (S$4.10/S$5.30). There is also an Ovaltine Macchiato (S$4.50/S$5.90) in their Signature Macchiato range.
Toppings include Coconut Ice Cream (S$0.90/S$1.20), Coffee Jelly (S$1) and Ai Yu (S$1.20/S$1.60).

10. Vanda Botanical Desserts (#B2-36A)
With a name that piques your curiosity and beckons you to explore, Vanda Botanical Desserts is the gelato house you need to visit in Takashimaya. The intriguing moniker is a reference to the inspiration behind all their desserts: the flowers, fruits, spices, teas and herbs of Asia.
Every flavour is lovingly (and patiently) extracted over hours from these natural ingredients. It is why every lick is rewarded with a lush infusion of floral and fruity essences. Everything is natural, crafted from scratch using traditional gelato-making techniques.
Some of their popular flavours include Yogurt Raspberry, Chrysanthemum and Goji Berry, Poached Pear Walnut and Coconut Pandan with Coconut Pulps. You can choose your own toppings to get the gelato of your dreams. Each signature creation comes with an edible Mini Viola flower for a gelato that’s truly blooming with nature and your imagination.
