I have a sweet tooth that cannot be denied, and all it took was a single glance for me to fall in love with the bomboloni. Also known as stuffed donuts, these little morsels of delight originated from Italy.
Its name is etymologically linked to the Italian word for bomb (bomba), which I suppose is because it looks like a bomb, with its round appearance and stuffed cream that overflows through its single opening at the top. Or perhaps is it referring to it being a calorie bomb? Hmm, I wonder.
It’s most well-known for being stuffed with delicious sweet and savoury fillings and dusted with a fine layer of granulated sugar or cinnamon. Get the ball rolling with these 10 best bomboloni bakeries in Singapore.
1. Doughnut Shack
Nestled along Kitchener Road is Doughnut Shack, a take-away shop dedicated to the one and only doughnut. Its aim is simple: to explore and sell as many variations, shapes and forms of the doughnut as possible, including bombolonis, beignets, doughnuts, and more.
Whether or not you’re purchasing a Box of 15 DS Minis (S$22.50), which are Doughnut Shack’s mini bombolonis, or Box of 6 Doughnut Shack (S$16.90), you can look forward to a wide assortment of unique flavours that are constantly changing every month.
Its June roster includes flavours such as Creme Brulee, Earl Grey Blueberry, Pistachio Ganache, so be sure to check out their social media pages for updates!
2. Bakes by NY
With three outlets across Singapore, Muslim-owned Bakes by NY might just be your next go-to to satisfy your sweet tooth cravings.
You can find it at Sultan Gate, Yishun Ring Road and Tampines Street 23, and with me being an Eastie, I decided to pop by its Tampines outlet for a visit.
Bakes by NY specialises exclusively in bombolonis, offering a variety of flavours such as Nutella, Biscoff, Salted Caramel, and Cream Cheese. You can choose to get a Box of 5 (S$20) or Box of 12 (S$40), or get a single bomboloni at S$4 each.
3. Burnt Ends Bakery
Burnt Ends Bakery is an extension of the one Michelin-starred Australian-style barbecue restaurant Burnt Ends, which is famous for its wood-fired grill.
Located within the same space at its restaurant at Dempsey Hill, its bakery is where you’d go to for a fine selection of baked goods, ranging from bombolonis to tarts. Fans of the classics will love its Plain Doughnuts (S$24 for 6), which are essentially non-stuffed brioche doughnuts, while those with a sweet tooth should definitely try its Milo Dinosaur Doughnuts (S$30 for 6, S$65 for 12). Other flavours include Passionfruit Curd, Vanilla Cream and Pandan.
Be sure to come early or order online for self pick-up, as Burnt Ends Bakery is so popular that customers are known to wipe out complete rows in a single order!
As its name suggests, Nassim Hill Bakery Bistro Bar is a three-in-one concept. Located on the first floor of the Tanglin Post Office Building, this restaurant offers fresh bakes, brunch food, as well as dinner and drinks that are perfect for that post-work chill session.
If you’re heading here for bombolonis, it’s best to check out its bakery display for a full list of available flavours. Alternatively, you can order through its website, especially for popular flavours such as Brioche Donuts (Box of 4) (S$14) which come with mixed flavours, such as kaya and chocolate cream.
5. Sourbombe Artisanal Bakery
Sourbombe Artisanal Bakery’s bakes are too pretty to eat, but then again, they’re so delicious that they’re worth every calorie.
Sourbombe is the brainchild of Genevieve Lee, runner-up of MasterChef Singapore in 2018, who decided to combine her love for sourdough with the traditional bomboloni to create a modern version.
Be sure to pre-order its boxes of Sourbombe Box of 3 (S$15.50), Sourbombe Box of 6 (S$29) and Sourbombe Box of 9 (S$44), which comes with fixed but super unique flavours such as Matcha Black Sesame, Strawberry Milk and Lavender Lime Mascarpone.

Home-based bakery Kobashi has been taking over social media with its sourdough bakes, which are handcrafted in small batches to ensure its quality.
At the time of writing, its online shop only listed one item: KOBASHI x Kuro Bundle (S$38), which is a collaboration between Kobashi and local cold brew delivery specialist, Kuro Coffee. The bundle includes six sourdough donuts, including flavours such as Salted Caramel, Koicha Matcha, Nutty Rocher, Neri Goma and Lemon Meringue.

7. Puffs & Peaks
I discovered Puffs & Peaks on TikTok, with multiple reviews praising its wide range of flavours and of course, the ever-famous Insta-worthy shot of tearing into the bomboloni to show its unique fillings.
Puffs & Peaks is a neighbourhood bakery and you can find it on the second floor of Tampines Central Community Complex.
Its Donuts are sold at S$3.80 each, with permanent flavours including its well-loved 70% Chocolate, Vanilla Bean and Earl Grey. It also launches seasonal flavours, such as Hazelnut Praline Chocolate and Strawberries & Cream, which are priced at S$4 each.
I personally loved its Hazelnut Praline Chocolate for its nutty and rich flavours. It tasted like a ferrero rocher, with a velvety-like texture that made it absolutely delightful to bite into. The donut itself was soft and fluffy, and went hand-in-hand with the creamy filling.
8. The Fat Kid Bakery
The Fat Kid Bakery is run by 24-year-old self-taught baker Ariel Tang, whose baking journey started 10 years ago when she first baked brownies for her friends and family.
Its brick-and-mortar store can be found on the first floor of Floravista, a condominium at Ang Mo Kio, offering a selection of baked goodies such as Box of 4 (Sourdough Bombos) (S$15.20), where you can pick and choose between sweet flavours like Earl Grey Milk Tea, Summerberries and Sea Salt Maple.
In May 2022, The Fat Kid Bakery launched a series of savoury bombolonis as well. Its Savoury Series: Box of 4 (Sourdough Bombos) (S$26) comes with fixed flavours like Spicy Egg Mayo, Tuna Nori Crunch, Sour Cream & Onion and Roasted Garlic Mascarpone.
9. We Love Delish
On top of the usual bomboloni flavours like chocolate, Nutella and strawberry jam, We Love Delish is well-known for offering a flavour that Singaporeans will either love or hate— the Durian Pengat (S$29 for 10, S$39 for 15).
Pengat is a dessert that has roots in the Muslim and Peranakan communities, referring to fruits or vegetables cooked in a concoction of coconut milk and sugar. This smooth durian puree-like pairs well with the pillowy, overstuffed bombolonis, which have been nicknamed as “hotel pillow doughnuts” because it’s apparently as soft as hotel pillows!
Given that its owner is an ex-hotel catering sales manager, I figure she’d know best as to how luxury hotel pillows feel like.
Do note that We Love Delish’s bombolonis are only available via pre-order, and can be collected in person or through delivery.
10. Fitri Creations
Halal-certified and Muslim-owned Fitri Creations has four outlets across Singapore, Tampines Mall, KINEX Mall, Yishun and Sembawang, where they specialise in a range of bakes including bombolonis, cakes, brownies and tarts.
I popped by its KINEX Mall outlet to check out its bombolonis, which are sold at S$3.50 each.
You can also choose to get a Box of 4 (S$12) or Box of 6 (S$18), where you can mix and match between its flavours, which include Ondeh Ondeh, Biscoff Cookie-Butter, Oreo Crunch, Kinder Bueno, and Red Velvet Nutella.
Alternatively, place your orders online for self-collection at any of its four outlets, or get it delivered to your doorstep (though shipping fees are calculated separately).
