Zul Ariffin underwent transformation for "Talbis Iblis"

21 Oct – Although he ended up having to sit for four hours of makeup to transform himself into his character Nasir in "Talbis Iblis", Zul Ariffin doesn't regret at all his decision to "deface" himself for the role.

The actor, who spoke about his bald-headed scar-faced appearance in the movie, shared that he wanted to present something different in his performance, which is why he said yes to undergoing such transformation.

"In the movie, there is a scene where I burnt my face when I was young. Otherwise, I wouldn't look as bad. I didn't want to shave my beard, since I imagined him as someone with a beard. So, I decided to shave my head instead," he said, adding that he did it out of his own volition.

"My character is an assistant to Nasha Aziz's character. She has an elegant image, so I have to show the opposite," he reasoned.

Zul also revealed that he had to make sure that his face is free of hair before undergoing the transformation, otherwise the makeup effect would not hold.

"It was fine, even though it took four hours each time," he added.

Directed by Kabir Bhatia, "Talbis Iblis" is now in theatres and co-stars Azira Shafinaz and Sherie Merlis.
