Zhou Libo arrested in New York for illegal possession

23 Jan - It was revealed that Chinese comedian Zhou Libo was arrested in New York for alleged illegal possession of a firearm and drugs.

As reported on ECNS News, the former "China's Got Talent" judge, as well as another man named Shuang Tang, were pulled over by the police in Long Island after their black Mercedes was seen driving erratically on the morning of 19 January.

Upon further inspection, the police discovered a Colt Mustang 0.38 caliber pistol in the back seat, in addition to two bags of crack cocaine.

The two men didn't resist arrest and were charged with illegal possession of controlled substances, weapons and firearm. They were also charged for illegal use of phones while driving.

The Shanghai-born Zhou is famous for his unique style of comedy, in which he combines Mandarin, Shanghainese and English into what he called "Shanghai Style Small Talk". He also became the first Chinese stand-up comedian to perform at Carnegie Hall in Manhattan back in 2016.
