Zhou Dongyu-starrer "The Breaking Ice" to go to Cannes

18 Apr – Zhou Dongyu's new movie, "The Breaking Ice" is going to Cannes.

As reported on NetEase, the movie, which sees Zhou reuniting with Singaporean filmmaker Anthony Chen, will be competing in the Un Certain Regard section, which is parallel to the competition for the Palme d'Or.

The movie also stars Zhou's rumoured boyfriend Liu Haoran and actor Qu Chuxiao, and tells the blossoming relationship between three young adults in their twenties.

The actress shared the good news on Weibo, writing, "The snow will soon melt, and a new journey is about to start."

Zhou previously worked with Anthony in the latter's short story, "The Break Away", which is a contribution to the anthology "The Year of The Everlasting Storm", selected at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival.
