Zheng Kai appointed Haining tourism ambassador

23 Jan – Chinese actor Zheng Kai (aka Ryan Cheng) has been appointed a tourism ambassador for the city of Haining.

As reported on Sohu, the actor, whose role as Mr. Wei in "Blossoms Shanghai" sets off a wave of craze across China, attracted the attention of the Haining tourism board, which has decided to officially hire him as Haining Cultural Tourism Promotional Ambassador.

Speaking at the event of his appointment, Zheng couldn't hide his excitement as he said, "Mr. Wei has finally come home. It is my honour. I would like to thank director Wong Kar Wai and the 'Blossoms Shanghai' team for allowing us to get acquainted."

Meanwhile, the tourism board stated that they hope Zheng could continue his role as "Haining President Wei" in real life, so that the city could further increase its visibility and reputation.

They also hope that the actor will be a "living advertisement" of Haining's cultural tourism image.

KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) -A Malaysian court dismissed jailed former Prime Minister Najib Razak's legal bid to obtain a document that he said would allow him to serve his remaining prison sentence under house arrest. In a judicial review application filed on April 1, Najib said an "addendum order" issued by the former king had accompanied a pardons board's decision in February to halve his 12-year jail sentence for graft in the multibillion-dollar 1MDB scandal. Najib had sought for the court to compel the government to reply to or confirm the existence of the royal order, which he said would entitle him to serve the remainder of his term under house arrest, and to execute the order if it existed.
