Zhao Wei suddenly gone missing from China's internet

30 Aug – Fans are perplexed after it was revealed that award-winning actress Zhao Wei's name has been removed from many of her projects on Chinese media platforms.

Netizens first expressed their concern on social media last week, stating that platforms like Tencent Video and iQiyi showed no result upon one typing the actress' name, with some of her famous works like "My Fair Princess" have also been taken down.

Jimu News also revealed that some of these video platforms have confirmed the removal of Zhao's works, having received the request on short notice with no clear reason.

The quiet removal of the actress from the online sphere has had everybody guessing on what actual "sin" she has done, with many listing down prior controversies - from her wearing a dress featuring the Japanese military flag, and the many lawsuits she had received from her and husband Huang Youlong's multiple investments.

It is noted that Zhang Zhehan, the actor who was banned two weeks ago over old photos of him at Japan's Yasukuni Shrine, was reportedly signed with Zhao's company.

On the other hand, many are questioning Zhao's whereabouts since the issue sparked, with some claiming that the actress has flown to Bordeaux, France to join her husband at their chateau.
