Zhao Tao elated to accept TIFF's Tribute Award

11 Sep - Zhao Tao has recently appeared at the Toronto International Film Festival to receive her Tribute Award.

The 47-year-old actress looked stunning all covered up in her pink dress as she accepted her accolade alongside husband Jia Zhangke.

She expressed, "This honour came at a good time... I have always had the opportunity to play some women in difficult situations... Thank you for the film that gives us the opportunity to show our lives. Film makes us women stronger."

In the previous announcement, TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey expressed, "In her collaborations with director Jia Zhangke, the TIFF Special Tribute honouree Zhao Tao has captured the complexity and significance of China's galvanising change. Hers is a signature face of our 21st century, and her work in 'Caught by the Tides' stands with her very best."

Aside from Zhao, ranked eighth among the 25 greatest actors of the 21st century by the New York Times in 2020, the said Tribute Award was also given to rapper Jharrel Jerome.
