Zhang Yimou's "Shadow" nominated at AACTA Awards 2019

22 Oct – Zhang Yimou's award-winning film, "Shadow" has been nominated in the Best Asia Film category at the upcoming Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Awards, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film, starring celebrity couple Sun Li and Deng Chao, will be facing tough competition from eight other nominees, including two other films from mainland China; the 2019 sci-fi film, "The Wandering Earth" and the animated flick, "Ne Zha" - the latter which has also been submitted as China's entry for the Oscars' Best Foreign Language Film category.

Aside from the three Chinese movies, other films that will be competing for the award include Bong Joon-ho's Palme d'Or winner "Parasite" (Korea), Zoya Akhtar's "Gully Boy" (India), and Cathy Garcia-Molina's box office film, "Hello, Love, Goodbye" (Philippines).

These eight films will be judged by a panel of jury led by Hollywood actor Russell Crowe. Among jury members include Hong Kong producer Virginia Lok and Chinese actress Chloe Mayaan.

The AACTA Awards will be held on 4 December in Sydney.
