Zhang Jike threatens legal action over debt rumour

5 Apr - Table tennis player Zhang Jike is now collecting evidence in order to take legal action following recent allegations against him.

As reported on NetEase, the issue started after several netizens and tabloids reported that Zhang had owed gambling debts and used private photos and videos of his ex-girlfriend, actress Jing Tian as a way of repayment.

It was also alleged that the creditor had been extorting the actress using those videos, though the case has supposedly been resolved after the actress reported it to the police.

Zhang had since denied the allegations via his management, saying that he has no debt with any creditor nor did he compromise other people's privacy for his own gain.

In the most recent statement, his studio stated that they will file a lawsuit against those who have repeatedly published or refused to delete the defaming content, in order to safeguard Zhang's rights and interests.

Jing and Zhang announced their relationship in March 2018. The two broke up in 2019 amid rumours that they were in constant argument with one another.
