Zermatt: bars and nightlife
Expert guide to Zermatt
Expect a fun and lively après and night-time scene in this full-on resort. However, live music and welcoming, lederhosen-clad staff are likely to be accompanied by high prices.
Hennu Stall
On your way off the mountain the longstanding Hennu Stall, on the Furi-Zermatt slope, has a lively, fun atmosphere, sometimes with live music.
Cervo
Coming from the Sunnegga side of the slopes, a stylish option is the newer Cervo, at the end of red runs 1, 2 and 3.
Papperla Pub
In town, the well established Papperla Pub in a central spot near the river, is packed with a young crowd straight after skiing and sometimes has live music.
Harry’s Ski Bar
For town-centre après or pre-dinner drinks, head to Harry's Ski Bar at the Matterhorn Lodge, run by a young, friendly, lederhosen-clad Swiss-Austrian couple. It's near the river at the bottom of Hinterdorfstrasse, a picturesque street lined with ancient, rickety chalets.
Pollux Bar
Half-way up the main street, the Pollux Bar is a favourite with locals and home to the Ski Club of Great Britain's daily social hour at 6.30pm.
Papa Caesar
After dinner, try the upstairs bar, Papa Caesar, in Zermatt's nightlife hub, the Hotel Post.
Hexenbar
The traditional Hexenbar just below Hotel Zermatterhof on main street is a good place for people-watching.

Broken Bar Disco
Later on, the place to go dancing is the Broken Bar Disco at the Hotel Post, a Zermatt institution and perennially popular all year round.
Hotel Post
Also in Hotel Post, the Loft Lounge Club is great for over 25s, and Pink, a live music bar, hosts concerts from time to time.
