Zanilia Zhao has no issue playing supporting role in new drama
30 May – Chinese actress Zanilia Zhao has dismissed the criticism about her decision to play a supporting role in her upcoming comeback drama, "Da Qing Xiang Guo" ("The Prime Minister of Qing Dynasty").
As reported on Epoch Times, sources recently broke the news that the actress is set to make her return to the small screen after a year of hiatus in the upcoming drama to be helmed by Zheng Xiaolong ("Empresses of the Palace"). However, fans began to express frustration when it was reported that Zanilia, who has proven herself worthy of a leading role, will play a supporting role to actress Betty Sun Li.
However, when asked about it recently, Zanilia said that she sees no issue in playing either the lead or a supporting character.
"As an actor, I am focused on giving my best performance. As long as you can present a good work to the audience, you can consider yourself a good actor," she said.
This will be Zanilia's first series since getting married to fellow actor Feng Shaofeng and subsequently giving birth to her first child.
The upcoming drama reportedly will focus on power struggles and political intrigues, and will co-star Dong Jie and Lu Yi.
