Zamani regrets not registering with RPM in the past

19 Aug – Zamani Ibrahim admitted that he regrets being neglectful of his rights as an artiste by not joining the Recording Performers Malaysia (RPM).

The singer, who has been singing since the mid-90s, stated that he became even more regretful after suffering from scoliosis, since he could have put his royalties to a good use.

"It's not the money that I am after. It's just that, at least the royalty would have helped me in lessening my burden, especially after the surgery," he said.

Zamani hopes that his mistakes in the past would not be repeated by new singers, that each and every performer should understand their rights.

"RPM has contacted me and urged me to register as soon as possible. From there on, I will be able to get my royalties," he added.

On the other hand, the singer said that he would be undergoing surgery for his scoliosis sometime in November.

"I have two options, whether to do it at the UKM Medical Centre (PPUKM) or at the ALTY Orthopaedic Hospital. But for now, I am taking painkillers. I am in pain all the time nowadays, so I have to take it," he said.
