Zaki Yamani wants to focus on studies this year

7 Mar – Now that he has proved himself by winning "Famili Duo" with brother Yamani Abdillah, 17-year-old Zaki Yamani would like to focus more on his studies to prepare himself for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM).

The singer, who spoke to BH, stated that he has no plans to be a full-time singer, and instead would like to emulate the careers of vocal coach Syafinaz Selamat, who is both a singer and a teacher.

"I would like to further my studies in college or in a university. I want to be an English lecturer because it has always been a dream of mine," he said. "Datuk Syafinaz is my idol. She is both a lecturer and a singer. That's a good example to follow."

Zaki stated that he will be taking a lot of tuition classes to catch up on his studies, since he had missed school quite a lot last year due to his performance work.

"I will make sure that I won't miss out anymore, even if it was not intentional," said the singer, who is the second son of legendary singer Jamal Abdillah.

As for his SPM target, Zaki said he wants to get 7As, though he would still be grateful even if he gets only 2 or 3.
