As a beauty junkie, I’m poised to lend a voice to new skincare brands, and especially under-the-radar beauty brands that the industry bigwigs constantly overshadow. Case in point: Yves Rocher, a plant-based beauty brand hailing from France.
According to their website, it all started in La Gacilly, a town in Brittany, when a healer handed the founder Yves Rocher a traditional recipe. The home-concocted potion proved a hit with the locals. The founder then promised to ensure that personal care and beauty products remain affordable for the average person and readily available at local stores. Note that the keyword here is ‘affordable’, not cheap if that's what you, fellow bargain hunter, were thinking.
How has the brand achieved this? Since its 1959 debut, Yves Rocher has cut out go-betweens starting from the production line to distribution to ensure its affordability. To this day, the brand has remained a forerunner in developing and using naturally-derived and plant-based ingredients in the skincare and beauty industry.
