Yusof Haslam denies casting of Aaron Aziz to spite son Syamsul Yusof

20 Mar – Yusof Haslam dismissed the notion that he was being crafty by casting Aaron Aziz in his new movie after the actor was allegedly dropped from his son Syamsul Yusof's new movie, "The Original Gangster".

Speaking to the media at the premiere of Astro's "Original Liar", the filmmaker stated that he was coincidentally looking for an actor to play the villain in his new movie, "Sheriff", and immediately contacted Aaron after finding out that the latter was available to work.

"It has nothing to do with Syamsul dropping Aaron from the movie. It was just a coincidence. We needed someone for an important character and the role suited him. I don't want people to have any misunderstanding," he said.

Yusof stressed that Syamsul is his son and that he loves his son very much, and that Aaron's casting was not out of spite.

"I don't know why Aaron was dropped from Syamsul's film and I don't want to hurt my son's feelings. I cast Aaron professionally, and without prejudice," he added.

He also expressed hope that people will not boycott his son's film because of Syamsul's marital issues, and that a good movie should be supported no matter who the director is.
