Yuan Quan loves her role in "The First Half of My Life"
20 Jul - Chinese actress Yuan Quan shared that the script and character that was offered to her was the reason why she decided to make a television comeback through the drama, "The First Half Of My Life".
As reported on Epoch Times, the actress, who plays Tang Jing - a white-collar elite who helps her divorced good friend (played by Ma Yili) to return to the workforce, said that it is the first time that she got to play a strong female character, and that it has been a fun and satisfying experience to play it.
"When the producer came up to me to play Tang Jing, I was not surprised at all. But I was very excited. Finally, I am given such a role," said Yuan, who has always been known for her restrained and subdued roles.
However, Yuan said that what drew her most to Tang Jing is the fact that she is a fragile woman hiding behind a tough exterior.
"She is very domineering and tough on the surface. She seemed to be able to control her own life. But at the same time, there is loneliness in the shadow," she said.
Yuan said that she enjoys having this kind of layered performance the most, which is why she decided to make her TV comeback three years after her last drama, "Walking on the Blade".
