Yu Haoming sheds idol image in "Nothing Gold Can Stay"


20 Sep - Chinese actor Yu Haoming has his owns reasons when he decided to play an antagonistic role in his drama comeback, "Nothing Gold Can Stay", as reported on Epoch Times.

The actor, known as "Prince Ming" by his fans for his positive image as a good-looking and lively idol star, plays the role of Du Mingli in the said drama - a crafty businessman serving royal prince Zaiyi, who also has a twisted love with Hu Yongmei (played by Myolie Wu), the love rival of the main character Zhou Ying (played by Sun Li).

When asked why he decided to play the bad guy after years of playing positive protagonists, The "Meteor Shower" star said that he wanted to prove that he can do more than just idol dramas.

"I want to show that I can do many types of characters that you can't even imagine me doing, that I am still an actor, first and foremost," he said.

The actor, who - like Selina Jen - suffered third-degree burns during the 2010 explosive accident on the set of "I Have a Date with Spring", also stated that he is not worried about the close-up shots showing the scars from his burns.

"I am an actor. So every single part of my body is in service to the role, scars and all," he added.
