Stiff competition is nothing new for Serena Williams. The tennis GOAT has faced her own sister, Venus, over 30 times in pro tournaments—and she still walked away with 23 Grand Slam singles titles. Defeating Danka Kovinić 6-3 6-3 on Monday to advance to the second round of the US Open, she'll now face the No. 2 seed, Anett Kontaveit.

It's a rough draw placement for Williams, who now has to face the No. 2 seed so early in the tournament. But the road to her potential 24th title was never going to be easy. Not only will this US Open likely mark the final tournament of her career, but it will also be her last attempt to tie Margaret Court's record for the most single titles of all time.

26-year-old Anett Kontaveit has never faced Serena Williams before, but the Estonian pro is reportedly looking forward to the match. "I'm really excited. I was really rooting for her to win today," Kontaveit told reporters after defeating Romania's Jaqueline Cristian 6-3 6-0 in the first round. "I've never played against her," she continued. "I mean, this is the last chance. Better late than never... I'm really looking forward to it. I think it's going to be one of those matches this year that... I'll just get to enjoy and play as good as I can... I'm just going to take it as a real unique experience. I'm not sure if I'll ever experience something like this again."

Williams will face Kontaveit this Wednesday, August 31, at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York. The match will be available to watch on ESPN, ESPN2, and the ESPN App. An official time and court will be announced later this Tuesday evening. Due to the obvious importance of the event, Williams and Kontaveit will most likely face off during the primetime spot in the evening.
