You’ll Never Guess What Kylie Jenner Was Almost Named
By now, most of us have seen that viral TikTok trend on our For You page where users reveal what their name is and then what their parents *almost* named them. Well, it seems that even Kylie Jenner has seen this trend, as she posted a video revealing that her parents, Kris and Caitlyn Jenner, almost named her something completely different.
While cuddling in bed with her 4-year-old daughter, Stormi Webster, whom she shares with BF Travis Scott, the makeup mogul, sporting a gray crewneck sweatshirt with a moose graphic, took to TikTok to drop the bombshell. In the 11-second clip, Kylie told fans that the second option for her moniker was—wait for it—Kennedy (!!). That would have made Kylie’s full name Kennedy Kristen Jenner.
“My name is Kylie but it was almost…Kennedy,” the reality star wrote in the video as a Childish Gambino “Redbone” remixed version of her former brother-in-law Kanye West’s 2016 hit “I Love Kanye” played in the background. The video montage featured glamorous shots of her taken over the years, including pics of Kylie in a red-hot leather set, a black triangle bikini, a mesh lingerie set, and one of the bodycon dresses she recently wore during her 25th birthday celebration. While the gorgeous shots of Kylie were much appreciated, the real kicker of the vid was a photoshopped picture of a Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kit that read “Kennedy Cosmetics.”
TikTok users were quick to share their opinions on the star’s almost-name, with one fan commenting, “I think it would match with your vibe,” while another wrote that they didn’t think “Kennedy sounded NEARLY as bougie.”
As it turns out, this isn’t the first time Kylie’s name has been called into question. During the season 17 finale of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kim Kardashian, Kylie, Kendall Jenner, and Kris discussed how the two youngest sisters’ names came to be.
“You were really into Js,” Kim said to Kris during the name discussion. “You were like, ‘Okay, since I did Ks, I’m gonna do Js.’ And then last minute, you’re like, ‘I’m gonna do Ks.’”
Kris then recalled why they chose Kylie’s name, saying the decision centered around what complimented the name Kendall.
“We just kept saying, ‘Kendall and…Sophia. Kendall and Jane.’ You know, trying to think of what went with Kendall,” Kris said.
The KarJenner family matriarch then revealed that after mulling the name Kelly, “we got to Kendall and Kylie—we went, ‘That’s it!’”
It seems that Kylie is keeping up the family tradition of taking a while to pick names, as she has yet to release the name of her 6-month-old son. Fans urged Kylie to do the TikTok name reveal trend with her child, who was previously named Wolf Webster until Kylie and Travis changed their minds, stating in April, “We just didn’t really feel like it was him.”
Fingers crossed that Kennedy—we mean Kylie—releases a Baby Webster version on TikTok soon!
