Yoga comes with a view at Marina Bay Sands Skypark
SINGAPORE - Yoga is an age-old practice that is about bringing unity to one's mind and body. The discipline involves body movements, holding postures, breath control and simple meditation to aid in health and relaxation. It's also supposedly promising for improving back-related pains and reducing inflammations within the body. Even for the most casual of practitioners, yoga is usually a much-needed break away from the stresses of the day.
Now, you can take your practice to the next level, and we're not talking about a more difficult one. Instead, set your sights high to level 57 of Marina Bay Sands, where one can indulge in an unparalleled cityscape of Singapore while practising yoga.

These 45-minute classes are hosted by Virgin Active Singapore in partnership with Marina Bay Sands, and sessions are available for booking starting 20 July 2021. These classes are specially timed for sunrise and sunset, which means that not only will you be honouring your space on a coveted viewpoint, but you'll also be treated to the sights of a city waking up (or winding down) to the rhythm of the sun. There's something poetic about this arrangement, which I had the privilege of witnessing during a media event.
The whole process was seamless, from checking in at the entrance to the Skypark (which resides within a conspicuous glass entrance to the right of the drop off point at the hotel Tower 3), to being ushered to the level 57 viewpoint via a dedicated lift. The "outdoor studio" is prepared in advance – mats, blocks and all – and each participant will be equipped with a set of wireless headphones, which receives soothing music and clear instructions from the yoga teacher.
Whether you're a seasoned practitioner or someone who does yoga sporadically, there are classes you can select to accommodate your desired practice for the day. Most importantly, it's priced attractively for a 2-in-1 ticket to the Skypark viewpoint (for 45 mins) and a yoga session.
After all, you're not just doing a Tadasana (Mountain Pose); you're doing it on a platform that's the travel inspirations of thousands across the world.
