Yang Mi hires acting coach for new drama

25 May – Yang Mi is truly serious about changing her image as an actress, as she revealed that she has hired an acting coach as she films her new drama, "Harbin 1944."

The actress, who recently ended her collaboration with Jay Walk Studio, shared in an interview recently that her acting coach is there with her on set, to help her improve her acting as well as the delivery of her lines.

"The coach also helps me memorise my lines so I don't have to bring the script to the stage," she said.

Some netizens were unamused by this revelation, with many accusing Yang Mi of being threatened by Zanilia Zhao, who has also been going the more adult route by starring in the drama, "Wild Bloom".

In the second half of the interview, however, the actress stated that her decision to do more serious roles instead of her idol dramas is due to her age.

"I want to be a good actor and perform my very best in every project so I can live up to everyone's expectation," she added.

It is noted that Yang Mi was relegated as a second character to mainland actor Qin Hao in "Harbin 1944", something that she hasn't experienced for the many years of her life as a lead actress.
