Xi Mengyao apologises for her fall at Victoria's Secret show
27 Nov – Chinese supermodel Xi Mengyao recently apologised for stumbling down on the runway of the recently held Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.
As reported on Mingpao, the supermodel, who joined this year's event as it was held in Shanghai, fell down - gladiator shoes and all - on the runway when she tripped on the chiffon train of her lingerie ensemble.
She was helped up by fellow model, Gizele Oliveira, who was following behind her.
Although it is normal for a model to trip while walking down the runway, her fellow countrymen were not so forgiving of the mistake, with many slamming the supermodel and calling for her retirement from the industry.
Xi had since apologised for her fall on Weibo, writing, "I am sorry to disappoint everyone. Thank you for your concern. I have been a model for several years. I fell numerous times on this road, but I know that no matter how much pain I felt, I must stand up and finish it."
In another post on Instagram, she wrote, "It was no doubt one of the hardest moments I have ever had to go through in my career, especially since the show was taking place in my hometown, in front of my mother's and my people's eyes."
"However, the support I received from everyone yesterday was incredible and I am truly grateful to everyone who was there for me."
She also thanked Oliveira for helping her after the fall.
