Wyn Marquez wants Miss Universe for natural-born women

16 Jul – While Miss Universe Philippines Catriona Gray has no issue with a transgender competing in the upcoming Miss Universe Pageant, the reigning Reina Hispanoamericana Teresita "Wyn" Marquez prefers that the pageant focuses on natural-born women.

As reported on PEP, the actress-turned-beauty queen who was asked about transgender beauty Angela Ponce winning the Miss Universe-Spain crown, said that she is happy that the country was being welcoming to the transgender community.

"I have nothing against [the transgender community]. I am really proud and happy that [they got the respect]. But Miss Universe per se, let's just give it to natural-born women," she said.

Marquez added that the transgender community already has Miss International Queen, a prestigious pageant exclusively for trans women.

"But if the Miss Universe Organisation allows it, then we should accept it as well. No problem," she added.

The beauty queen stated that everybody is entitled to their own opinion, and it all boils down to what the Miss Universe Organisation will do.

The organisation has yet to make its decision at the time of writing.
