Wu Chun blasted for calling daughter "second wife"
2 Feb - Wu Chun recently found himself getting ridiculed and criticised by netizens over a comment about daughter Nei Nei.
The whole issue sparked on 30 January, when the Brunei-born singer posted photos of his family trip to Dubai, writing, "Welcome to my travel show. A fulfilling trip to Dubai. It's so cool... After seeing this, would you want to go?"
Amid all of the photos was one that has his wife, Lin Liying and daughter Nei Nei, who is now 13, sitting together in a boat overlooking the Burj Al-Arab. Several fans couldn't help but praised the mother-daughter duo, with one saying, "These two beauties are so pretty."
In response, Wu Chun, without thinking, posted, "The main wife, and the second wife."
The comment shocked netizens, who thought that it was inappropriate to describe his daughter that way even as a joke.
"Shouldn't we joke 'eldest daughter and second daughter' [instead of wife] instead?" asked one netizen.
"Although it might be a joke, it is still awkward to call your daughter a second wife," said another.
Wu Chun had since deleted his comment and the replies following the backlash, though other comments and the photos remained on Weibo.
