WNBA Star Cameron Brink Models New Balance’s Popular Sneaker-Loafer During Paris Fashion Week

Add WNBA star Cameron Brink to the list of fans of the up-and-coming footwear style colloquially known the “snoafer.” While in Paris during fashion week on Jan. 22, Brink modeled the viral New Balance 1906L, a hybrid between a sneaker and a loafer.

It was a full circle moment for the 1906L, which made its entrance on the runway in Paris last year during fashion week. Brink wore the much-talked-about style with an “office siren” look. The six-foot-four Los Angeles Sparks player was dressed up in a pair of high-waisted black trousers with a sheer lacy black corset top and a black blazer with white pinstripes. Her accessories included dainty gold jewelry and hoop earrings as well as a tiny Chanel purse.

Brink, who is the first female basketball player to have signed a deal with New Balance, accented her sultry business look with a black and silver version of the 1906L, which combines the silhouette of a loafer with the materiality of a sneaker. Charlotte Lee, design manager of EMEA energy and speed at New Balance, is behind the design of the shoe.

New colorways of the 1906L were recently announced. The “Silver Metallic/NB Navy/Dark Junipe” option, released Jan. 15, is currently sold out from New Balance. Fear not, as more colorways including the “Silver Metallic/Black” (which Brink appeared to be wearing) and a “Silver Metallic/Cream” are slated to hit the market. The options don’t end there, as the style is also being reinterpreted in black and brown suede iterations, an alternative to the mesh and synthetic upper that was first introduced.

While the concept of the “snoafer” isn’t beloved by all, it’s certainly making waves in the footwear industry. In addition to New Balance releasing new versions of the 1906L, the Hoka Speed Loafer is releasing at the end of January.
