Make-A-Wish awards Teejay Cruz posthumously

12 Dec – The Philippines' Make-A-Wish Foundation has recently honoured late actor Teejay Cruz with a posthumous Star Award 2018.

As reported on Inquirer, the news was shared by Cruz's mother Lynn Ynchausti-Cruz on Instagram through a photo of the said award, which revealed that the late actor was honoured for his "outstanding contribution in founding Spike for Hope".

Spike for Hope was Cruz's passion project that he founded in 2016, which organises volleyball tournaments and raises money for children with severe illnesses.

Ynchausti wrote that her son's foundation has granted more than 60 wishes and raised almost P400,000; and that even during his struggle with cancer, Cruz's mind had always been about the sick children.

"He would always tell me or his nurses his plans for the events for Spike for Hope to be able to raise funds to help the children stricken by cancer or serious illnesses," she added.

Ynchausti added that she is proud of Cruz, and will cherish the award as it reminds her and the family of how blessed they are for having such a son as Teejay Cruz.

Cruz passed away back in November after a battle with lympathic cancer. He was 37.
