Rising star Tom Holland, takes on the roll of Peter Parker again in the upcoming Marvel Studios movie Spider-Man: Homecoming. At just 20 years old, the UK actor is our youngest Spiderman to date.

In the upcoming Sony reboot of the Spider-Man franchise, Holland steps into Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s shoes, hoping to bring the franchise back to its former glory. (Did anybody even see Spiderman 3?) Relatively unknown, with just a few modest film credits prior to putting on the spidey suit for Captain America: Civil War, he brings a revitalizing youthfulness to the role.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Holland discusses how his Peter Parker will differ from the previous incarnations.

“You’ve seen the billionaire, the scientist, the soldier. Now it’s time to see the kid. And every decision we make on set is based off how would a kid react in this situation, so every fight scene we have is designed in a way that’s almost child-friendly, so he never actually punches anyone. It’s all done kind of by accident.”

In our country’s divided times, that sounds very refreshing.

Watching @tomholland2013 repost everything like... hahaha

The ridonkulously adorbs Holland, who is a skilled parkourist (like, was he born to be Spiderman??) was a huge fan as a kid (he says he had 30 Spiderman costumes over the years, as well as Spiderman sheets). He petitioned for the role himself, after learning the film was casting, calling up his agents and begging for an audition, and then putting himself on tape.

He learned he got the role in the most millenial-appropriate way: on Instagram.

I was in my bed scrolling through Instagram. It had been about a month since my audition. And Marvel just posted a photo saying go to our website and find out who the next Spider-Man is. I went on the Marvel website on my computer and there it was: The new Spider-Man is Tom Holland. I went ballistic, like absolutely nuts.
