Why the internet’s suddenly obsessed with #WeWearWhatWeWant
No matter our shape or size, we should be able to wear what we want without being afraid of judgement or nasty body-shaming, right? The answer should be a simple, emphatic YES. And oh hey, there’s good news on this front.
A 23-year-old plus-size model named Simone Mariposa launched a Twitter campaign inspiring women to celebrate their own fashion choices, even if they aren’t sample size.
Naturally, this has gone viral with the hashtag #WeWearWhatWeWant.
I didn't ask you for your opinion.

I'm really insecure and rarely post body pics, but this hashtag has really got me loving myself #WeWearWhatWeWant pic.twitter.com/TJSDtuBmfm

Speaking to Buzzfeed News, Mariposa explained that she did this after reading a story about a woman being criticized for her clothing choices. She identified with this struggle, having been unfairly judged for the same thing in her own life.
Mariposa notes that her body image suffered from it. “I stopped wearing my legs and arms out, I stayed away from clothes that accentuated my belly fat, and I was extremely self conscious [in] public.”
But then, a change happened within her. “However, after a while, I stopped letting society dictate my wardrobe, and starting wearing things that I always dreamed of wearing that made me feel beautiful.”
Mariposa’s simple action of tweeting body positivity has truly become a game changer.

No one should be made to feel unworthy or treated disrespectfully because of how they look. Women are taking a stand, once and for all.
I'm fat and super cute and nothing is ever going to stop me from wearing whatever the heck I want! #wewearwhatwewant pic.twitter.com/Db4c0g5EzX
