Minecraft's movie has added another impressive name to its cast with Jennifer Coolidge.

The White Lotus star is joining the upcoming video game adaptation, according to Deadline, though details of her role are under wraps for now.

Jennifer comes on board the project from director Jared Hess alongside the previously-confirmed Jack Black in the role of Steve, as well as Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom's Jason Momoa, Peacemaker's Danielle Brooks and Wednesday's Emma Myers.

Jack Black himself previously teased his involvement in an Instagram post of himself reading Minecraft Basics for Dummies, captioning: "An actor prepares."

The original game allows players to build their own sandbox worlds with blocks, and is the best-selling video game in history.

There have been previous failed efforts to adapt Minecraft for the big screen, including a recent version by Metal Lords director Peter Sollett.

Jennifer has been best known in recent years for starring in the first two seasons of HBO's The White Lotus, with her character Tanya McQuoid killed off in the season 2 finale.

After accepting the Emmy for Best Supporting Actress earlier this week, the actress confirmed that Tanya was definitely dead.

"[Creator] Mike White, thank you for this – thank you for giving me this opportunity to play this incredible character, and he says I'm definitely dead, so I'm going along with it," Jennifer said in her speech.

She then quipped in reference to her iconic line in the second season: "I want to thank all the evil gays."

Minecraft is due to be released in cinemas on April 4, 2025. The White Lotus can be streamed on NOW and Sky in the UK, and on Max in the US.
