But when it comes to their own eating preferences and favourite dining spots, how different are they from ours? Recalling my visit to 2am: dessertbar, I vividly remember being introduced to the art of exquisite plating and thinking to myself, “I had no idea that desserts could be presented with such elegance.” These were my initial impressions when I first dined there in 2007 at Holland Village.

Here’s a little about her:

Which cuisine would be your top choice, and why?

That would be Japanese cuisine! I have a great interest for the unique ingredients, flavours and diversity of the cuisine from every region.

During your days off or after work, where do you like to dine or order takeaways from?

I love the handmade chee cheong fun from Chef Wei HK Cheong Fun at 338 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1. And also the nasi lemak from The Coconut Club.

Can you name 1 particular hawker or kopitiam stall that you love?

Heng Carrot Cake at Newton Food Centre.

Which dish? Why do you like it? How long have you been patronising them?

I particularly love the orh luak (oyster omelette) there because of its texture. It’s crispy on the outside yet soft and chewy in the middle. They are also generous with large oysters. I’ve been a loyal patron, visiting consistently for the past 8 years.

Name 1 restaurant in Singapore that you would choose for more formal events or family gatherings.

That would be Labyrinth at Esplanade Mall.

Which dish? Why do you like it? How long have you been patronising them?

I love the Chef’s Rojak and Bak Chor Mee. They are both out of this world. I’ve been going there for 8 years already.

Can you name 1 particular junk food that you love and why?

I can’t resist har cheong gai. I love its salty and savoury flavour and it’s indeed very unique to this part of the world.

Can you name 1 street food that you always takeaway for light snacks?

Muah chee, of course.
