WARNING: MILD SPOILERS AHEAD

There is a quiet calm in the world of Delos. A few days after the host uprising, human and host bodies litter the park. Coagulated blood carpets the floor along with spent bullet casings and broken fantasies.

The opening scene for the first episode of Westworld Season 2 sets the tone perfectly for HBO’s followup to the hit series. Forget what you knew of Westworld in Season 1 (see our reviews here and here): Season 2 completely flips the status quo. The hosts are in charge now, and it’s the humans who are being hunted.

If there’s one thing you need to know, it’s this: Westworld season 2 will be incredibly brutal and bloody. The safety is off, people: it is now the time for the real Wild West.

All our favourites are back in the saddle again, including Delos executive director Charlotte Hale (Tessa Thompson from Thor: Ragnarok). In the aftermath of the massacre at the end of season 1, Hale has a secret agenda that will play out during the course of the season.

The biggest question on our minds going into Season 2: is Robert Ford (Anthony Hopkins) alive? Ford is significantly absent from the starting line up but in the world of Delos, it is entirely possible that the dead can return in some form or another. We wish we could say more but that would be giving too much away.

One of the great achievements of Westworld Season 1 is that they managed to give a conclusion to everyone’s storyline, yet still left room for narrative growth. And Season 2 Episode 1 does not waste any time setting up everyone’s story for their second outing.

I promised to keep most of the spoilers away from you fine readers, but there is one that I will let slip here and that is there are……**SPOILER WARNING**……..six worlds in total, and Westworld is just one of them.

While Shogun world has already been teased in the trailer, the fact that there are four more other parks out there is mind blowing. Who knows, perhaps we might even wander into……*ahem*…..Jurassic World in the following seasons?

Westworld season 2 is now streaming same time as the U.S. on HBO GO and HBO On Demand (StarHub TV Ch 602).
