Well Go USA Acquires Rami Malek Thriller ‘Buster’s Mal Heart’
Well Go USA has acquired rights in North America and some other territories to Buster’s Mal Heart, a psychological thriller starring Mr. Robot Emmy winner Rami Malek. Writer-director Sarah Adina Smith’s pic, which bowed at Toronto last month, follows a mountain man (Malek) who squats in empty vacation homes while on the run from the authorities. But in another life, he was a loving, stable family guy known as Jonah.
DJ Qualls, Kate Lyn Sheil, Toby Huss and Lin Shaye co-star in the film, will be hit theaters in early 2017, followed by a digital and home video release later in the year.
“From the first frame of the film, the talent on display in Buster’s Mal Heart is immediately apparent,” said Dylan Marchetti, SVP Acquisitions and Theatrical Releasing at Well Go USA Entertainment. “We think audiences around the globe will respond the same way we did, which was to exit the theater with our jaws on the floor.”
The film was produced by Jonako Donley of Everything is Everything and Travis Stevens of Snowfort Pictures and financed by Gamechanger Films. Mynette Louie, Julie Parker Benello, Dan Cogan, Geralyn Dreyfous and Wendy Ettinger are the executive producers.
