Watch: This Compact New 86-Foot Explorer Yacht Just Hit the Seas in Turkey

Bering Yachts is tripling down on its explorers.

The Turkish shipyard, known for building robust expedition vessels, launched the first B80 at the end of May, with another two explorers set to hit the seas this week. The newcomer spans 86 feet from bow to stern, has a beam of just over 26 feet, and offers an interior volume of 233 GT, making it a similar size as the two B88 yachts currently in build. “The B88 series, of which this B80 is a slight modification apart, is becoming one of our most popular models,” Bering founder Alexei Mikhailov said in a statement.

The B80 also showcases a steel displacement hull and aluminum superstructure like the B88 but has a slightly different layout. Sabdes Yacht Design penned the exterior, while Bering’s in-house team executed the interior. The elegant four-decker offers the space and luxury of a much bigger vessel, according to Mikhailov. At once modern and classic, the interior combines natural materials such as wood and marble with a neutral palette to create a calming and spacious feel.

In line with the owner’s desire to host, accommodate, and entertain visitors, the layout is focused primarily on hospitality and comfort. The expansive lower deck features four generous guest cabins that can sleep up to 10 guests, as well as the crew quarters, a crew mess, an engine room, and a lazaret. The crew mess and cabins are outfitted with the same materials as the guest accommodation to ensure consistency and comfort. The owner’s stateroom is positioned on the main deck, along with the main galley, a sprawling salon, and a dining area with a 10-seat table. To the aft, the spacious outdoor cockpit is fitted with another dining table and a pop-up, rotatable TV for alfresco movie nights.

Heading upstairs, the upper deck is home to the captain’s quarters, a pilot house, and a skylounge with a gym, hammam, and lounge. Outside, the bow is equipped with a giant sun pad and the aft is adorned with sunbeds. The aft area can also be used to store tenders if needed. Higher still, the flybridge sports a captain’s chair, a large table, two settees, a wet bar, a grill, a second pop-up TV, and plenty of sunbeds.

Powered by twin Cummins engines, the B80 has a maximum speed of 10.5 knots, a cruising speed of 8.5 knots, and a range of more than 5,000 nautical miles. As Mikhailov puts it, the “B80 is just as capable as pretty.”

Two more Berings will be set afloat in the first week of June. Stay tuned.
