Comic Con’s a magical place, as Phil Coulson might say. And it’s the place where an exclusive clip from Bright, a sci-fi/fantasy movie from Netflix, was shown to thousands of fanboys early this morning (July 21).

Unfortunately, there’s a reason the clip’s “exclusive”. So the rest of us just have to make do with this Bright trailer, also released today by Netflix.

Looks like a pretty wild ride! At Comic Con this morning, Will Smith spoke of the “bizarre world” of Bright as “this crazy mashup of the grit and that hard rated-R grime of Training Day but then smashed with Lord of the Rings”. Here’s the synopsis:

“Set in an alternate present-day, this action-thriller directed by David Ayer (Suicide Squad, End of Watch, writer of Training Day) follows two cops from very different backgrounds. Ward, a human (Will Smith), and Jakoby, an orc (Joel Edgerton), embark on a routine night patrol that will alter the future of their world as they know it. Battling both their own personal differences as well as an onslaught of enemies, they must work together to protect a deadly, thought-to-be-forgotten relic, which in the wrong hands could destroy everything.”

We first reported on Bright back in February when Netflix released a 30-second teaser. It all looks very promising and we look forward to reviewing it.

Bright, a Netflix original film, will be released on Netflix on December 22.
