Watch Jack Nicholson Accept His 1975 BAFTA From the Set of ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’

There are so many amazing things about this above video from the 1975 BAFTA Awards, the British equivalent of the Oscars. First and foremost, the clip shows Jack Nicholson accepting his award from the sanitarium set of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, while the rest of the cast — including Danny DeVito and Louise Fletcher — chew the scenery around him. (Somewhat literally, in DeVito’s case.) But the lead-up to Nicholson’s big moment is just as fun. Actor David Niven serves as the most wry, world-weary host ever, and the winner is announced by none other than Twiggy. (Interestingly, Nicholson was awarded the BAFTA for both of his nominated performances, in Chinatown and The Last Detail. At the Oscars that year, he was passed over for Art Carney in Harry and Tonto, so the BAFTAs are on the right side of history.)

This clip was posted online as part of the “100 BAFTA Moments” countdown, a series of vintage videos and photographs leading up to this year’s ceremony on Feb. 8. Here’s another gem from the collection: Sean Connery presenting BAFTAs to Al Pacino and Ellen Burstyn at the Actors Studio in 1976, a must-see if only for Pacino’s hair.
