"Warriors of Future" to open HKIFF 2022

29 Jul - The long-delayed sci-fi flick "Warriors of Future" is set to open the upcoming 46th Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF).

As reported on Mingpao, the VFX-laden movie, co-starring Sean Lau, Carina Lau and Louis Koo, is produced by the latter and directed by visual effects maestro, Ng Yuen Fai.

It is noted that the film, touted as the first mega budget Hong Kong sci-fi blockbuster, has been in the making for several years, and was originally scheduled for release in 2021, before it was postponed due to the pandemic.

Aside from the said movie, Carina's husband Tony Leung's upcoming movie, "Where the Wind Blows" will also be one of the opening films.

The movie, which co-stars Aaron Kwok and tells the story of two corrupt cops from the 1960s, was originally picked as HKIFF's opening film last year, but pulled out due to technical reasons.

The upcoming HKIFF will run over 17 days from 15 to 31 August 2022.
