Wang Leehom and Lee Jinglei continue public spat via lawyers

7 Jul – Two years after their high-profile separation made headlines, Wang Leehom and Lee Jinglei were finally granted divorce by a New York Court.

But not without another back and forth between the two parties.

As reported on Mingpao, Leehom was made to pay the legal fees, reportedly exceeding NTD 1 million due to the fact that he was the one who applied for divorce. However, Jinglei's lawyer soon reacted by saying that Leehom had to compensate his ex-wife for the legal fees as he was at fault.

Leehom's lawyer later retaliated by saying that the New York court did not find the singer having any fault and that the divorce was granted based on the agreement between two parties, adding that Jinglei had already acquired a huge property via the agreement before deciding to claim another USD 10 million and prolonging the litigation.

Responding to that, Jinglei's lawyer accused Leehom's team of twisting the fact and the legal judgement, stating that the fact that Leehom was the party at fault was written in black and white by the court. They added that Jinglei also did not receive a single cent from Leehom as she voluntarily relinquished any claim to his properties.

As for the supposed huge amount of money, the lawyer stated that Jinglei has never made additional claim, and that the trial time continues to be extended due to Leehom's multiple appeals after his loss in July 2022.

Leehom and Lee Jinglei had been at it ever since the singer announced that the two are filing for divorce back in December 2021, with Jinglei later on accusing Leehom of infidelity and affairs with multiple women.
