Wait, Patti LuPone and Aubrey Plaza Are Roommates?

What do Patti LuPone and Aubrey Plaza have in common? At first glance, not that much. One of them is a Tony Award-winning, Broadway darling who has lit up the stage in musicals like Evita and Gypsy; the other is known for lending her straight-faced (and sometimes eerie) sense of humor in Parks and Recreation and The White Lotus. But, as it turns out, the two actresses do share something: An address. Yes, you read that correctly: LuPone and Plaza are roommates.

Plaza, who is making her stage debut in an Off-Broadway revival of Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, reveals that she and LuPone are currently cohabitating on the Upper West Side. "She insisted," Plaza told Vulture. "She’s trying to whip me into shape." At first thought, this might seem like an Odd Couple situation; one's a legendary diva, the other an actress known for her work on the small screen, and they have a good 35 year age difference between them. However, it's worth noting that the two met (and presumably became close) while filming Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, the latest series to grace the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the article, Plaza shares that LuPone has become something of a second mother, making Plaza soup, doing her laundry, nursing her through a bout of strep throat, and giving her advice about on-stage acting.

While we'd love to be invited over a dinner party with the roommates, we're itching to learn more about their shared home. It's only fitting that the Broadway veteran would have an apartment in New York City—since she often performs at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall, the Upper West Side seems like the perfect location. But LuPone is pretty private about her real-estate portfolio. Rumor has it that LuPone always owned a New York City apartment, but she'd historically spend the majority of her time at her primary residence in Connecticut. (That said, she put her suburban retreat on the market for $2.75 million back in 2017.)

However, in a recent video LuPone recorded for an episode on a podcast called Q With Tom Power, we noticed her pared-back, plant-backed background. Naturally, we can't help but wonder if that's the home she's sharing with Plaza. If so, we have a feeling they might be a design match. (Sure, Plaza might be known for her dark sense of humor, but we wouldn't be shocked to hear that she loves a simple, midcentury-meets-bohemian aesthetic. She just has that breezy-yet-curated vibe.)

Regardless of what their setup looks like, one thing's for sure: It's likely they're having fun. As in-why-wait-to-live-your-Golden Girls fantasy fun. In an early October interview with InStyle—perhaps knowing what her future had in store—Plaza revealed that she'd love to grab a Cosmopolitan with LuPone. The Emily the Criminal actress shared, "My ideal scenario: I'd invite her over to my fabulous New York apartment, and I'd have all the ingredients right there, and we'd shake it up and sit by the fire, and she'd tell me all her stories about Company, and Gypsy and Evita, and we'd just knock them down." It sounds like dreams really do come true.
