Waheeda denies she quit music because of her husband
14 Sep – Waheeda has dismissed the notion that she withdrew from the entertainment industry because of Islamic preacher husband, Akhil Hayy.
The former singer, whose old performance clips went viral on TikTok in recent days, stated that Akhil has always been supportive of anything that she does, but that it was her own decision to leave the industry.
"I quit because I wanted to relearn the Quran and gain more knowledge. It has nothing to do with other things. I actually wanted to quit even before I got married," she said.
Waheeda stated that her husband, who is also a former singer, had never said that she can't sing as he understands how much she loves music.
As for fans expressing how much they missed her, Waheeda stated that she is touched by the sentiment, saying that it was God's blessings for her.
At the same time, Akhil, who was formerly the frontman of D'Riyadh, stated that his responsibility as a husband is just to ensure that his wife will not do anything untoward.
"If I am not around and she wants to go back, that's her right," he added.
