Vivian Chow on why she previously left the music industry
8 Nov – She was doing very well career-wise back in the 90s as one of the most sought after female singers at the time. But suddenly everything stopped when Vivian Chow decided to retire from her music career in 1998 to move to Vancouver, Canada with then partner Joe Nieh.
As reported on Epoch Times, Vivian, who sat down for an interview to promote her upcoming 30th anniversary concert, shared that being overwhelmed was one of the reasons why she decided to halt her career at the time.
"At the time, I made a lot of money, but had no time to spend it. In fact, I felt lost. I was like a robot, working every day without fail, that I forgot the joy of performing," she said.
At the same time, all of her contracts, be it TV, movie, and record expired in the same year, which made it easier for her to make her decision to leave.
It was after leaving Hong Kong that Vivian spent more time doing what she wanted to do, including painting and writing. Her book, "My Cat Son Pal Chow" sold more than 20,000 copies and was one of the top 10 best-selling books in 2004.
"I learned to take care of myself and start my life again," she said.
Vivian's "A Long and Lasting Love" concert will be held from 26 to 29 January 2018.
