Dior is celebrating the timeless modernity of the iconic Lady Dior bag with a dedicated pop-up in ION Orchard, Singapore.
A symbol and a legend, the Lady Dior handbag appeared for the first time on the arm of Lady Diana and has since enjoyed an extraordinary destiny. Over the years, this icon has blossomed in a multitude of colours, sizes and exceptional materials, thanks to the creative vision of designer Maria Grazia Chiuri.
The Lady Dior handbag is symbolically linked to the story of Lady Diana, Princess of Wales. In September 1995, while attending the opening of the Paul Cézanne retrospective at the Grand Palais in Paris, the First Lady of France presented her with a brand new Dior bag – then called Chouchou – a creation that had not yet been launched. In November of the same year, the princess was on an official trip to Argentina; as she exited the plane in Buenos Aires. She made her appearance carrying the bag she had received as a gift a few weeks earlier; a scene immortalised in a photograph across the globe.
For the Autumn-Winter 2021-2022 women’s ready-to-wear collection, the Lady Dior is revealed in a fully embroidered version named Lady D-Lite, designed by the Creative Director. Adorned with the “Christian Dior” signature, which completes its graphic style, and a matching shoulder strap, this essential adapts to every personality. It is available in timeless shades – such as black, grey or white – and also is reinvented in the Mizza motifs and ultra-glossy cannage this season.
