Virginia Lok says new guidelines is to protect its stars

18 Nov – TVB Assistant General Manager Virginia Lok has denied rumours that the company's new programming and dressing guidelines have anything to do with some of the tactless nature of some of its dramas and TV shows of late.

As reported on Mingpao, the TVB Executive, who addressed the issue of the new guidelines, which include rules about appropriate dressings, shared that the company has actually been discussing the policies for a long time and that its main goal is to protect its artistes.

She dismissed the idea that something must have occurred to cause such a move on TVB's part, saying that the company only thinks of its responsibility towards its viewers.

"Many of our artistes also think the policies are a good thing," she said.

As to whether the artistes are allowed to dress sexily at the upcoming 50th Anniversary Gala, Ms. Lok stated, "There is no problem. They're not wearing bikinis to the show. As long as it is appropriate with the occasion."
