Viola Davis just became an advocate for the Rape Foundation, proving once again that she’s a queen
We seriously have *so* much love for Viola Davis. She’s endlessly amazing, from her love for Wonder Woman to her super important dialogue about black hair. So when we heard that Davis became an advocate for the Rape Foundation, we were totally blown away, and couldn’t wait to hear what she had to see.
At the recent benefit for the foundation, Davis explained,
“Myself, my mother, my sisters, my friend Rebecca, my friend from childhood, we all have one thing in common: We are all survivors of sexual assault in some way, shape or form.”
It’s so hard to hear, but unfortunately not rare: Sexual assault and other forms of sexual violence continue to be all too prevalent in our society. The Rape Foundation seeks to bring comprehensive care to rape victims and sexually abused children while also creating and offering prevention programs. The foundation also trains those who provide support to victims and survivors of sexual violence to ensure that high-quality services are available.
She encourages everyone to support the foundation, saying,
“You must,” she said. “And then let your heart do the rest.”
This is so, so important. We love her so much, and are always grateful to her for speaking out.
