Vicky McClure readies Trigger Point series 2 with Instagram post
Trigger Point is close to filming its second season.
Over on her and ITV's Instagram today (February 8), Vicky McClure, who plays bomb disposal expert Lana Washington, was pictured in good spirits while clutching a script for the first episode of series 2.
The caption? "Trigger Point, Series 2."
The snaps also included a look at McClure with Danny actor Eric Shango and schmoozing with co-executive producer Jed Mercurio (also responsible for the TV phenomenons Line of Duty and Bodyguard).
The images were also shared to distribution company All3Media group's Instagram, where it was confirmed the cast had gathered in London on February 7 for a script read-through. "We are so pleased @htmtelevision's thrilling drama Trigger Point is back in action for season two! The addictive first series drew in 11 million viewers for the season one premiere, with the first series averaging 9.5 million viewers per episode on ITV," the caption read.
Mercurio previously opened up about the show's season 2 renewal, speaking out after ITV revealed in February 2022 that we'd be getting more of the drama.
"Everyone at HTM Television is thrilled by the success of Trigger Point. Thanks to all our brilliant cast and crew and especially to the viewers who watched in such large numbers," he said.
"We've received unswerving support from ITV throughout the production and we are delighted to have been commissioned for a second series."
ITV's head of drama Polly Hill was equally thrilled about the renewal, sharing: "I am so delighted to see Trigger Point return. Vicky is stunning as Lana and it's brilliantly produced by Jed and HTM, but I also want to congratulate Daniel for his scripts. To have held the audience in a state of tension for six hours so brilliantly, you can't believe it's his first show. I can't wait to see where series two takes Lana and her team."
Trigger Point is expected to return for season 2 this year on ITV1 and ITVX. You can buy series 1 now on DVD and Blu-ray.
