Veteran actress Julie Faridah passed away
1 Jun – Veteran actress, Toh Puan Julie Faridah, real name Joria Basir, has passed away on 30 May due to viral infection.
The news of her passing was confirmed by her daughter and TV personality, Aziah Jasmin Azizul, who revealed, "Mother left calmly after two weeks in hospital. She was bathed and shrouded at her residence in Ipoh, before being taken to Datuk Panglima Kinta Mosque to be buried next to father's grave, around 11am yesterday."
"Praise be to God, everything went smoothly. I am moved because she was honoured to be buried in the grounds of the Datuk Panglima Kinta Mosque with her loved ones," she added.
Julie, who was born in 1944, was most known for her role as Faridah in P Ramlee's "Keluarga 69".
She did not continue her acting career for long, after marrying her husband, Datuk Seri Azizul Hassan, who worked as a Senior Police Officer at the time.
