In recent years, RVing has transformed from a niche pastime into a booming trend that adventurers of all ages embrace. If you want freedom and self-sufficiency, there’s nothing like traveling and living out of an RV. You can sleep almost anywhere, cut costs by not booking hotels and eating out, and change your plans on a whim.

And many travelers are using RVs for more than the standard weekend camping trip. According to RVshare’s 2025 Travel Trend Report, 67 percent of travelers are considering RVs for trips to national parks and scenic areas. And at the top of everyone’s list, according to the report, is the Grand Canyon. In addition to being one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, along with marvels like the Great Barrier Reef and the Aurora Borealis, Grand Canyon National Park is the second most visited park in the U.S., welcoming over 4.7 million visitors in 2023.

It’s safe to say that seeing the Grand Canyon is on most travelers’ to-visit list — but visiting the natural wonder by RV is a completely different experience. You don’t have to pay for in-park lodging or be exposed to the elements in a tent. Plus, you can cook in your RV, move campgrounds on a whim, and extend or shorten your stay as you please.

Grand Canyon National Park has several RV-friendly campgrounds, including a designated RV campground with full hookups open year-round. It's also a 15-minute walk to Mather Point, one of the park’s most iconic viewpoints.

“As we look to 2025 and the future of travel, we understand that quality reigns supreme. Rather than ticking off destinations, this year’s Trend Report illustrates that Americans are yearning for more intentional travel and captivating experiences — especially when it comes to road trips,” Jon Gray, RVshare's CEO, said in a press release shared with Travel + Leisure.

The report also found that 62 percent of travelers are looking to relax and unwind during their vacation, seeking out travel that “allows them to explore new destinations at their own pace, savoring each moment without the pressure of a packed itinerary.” It’s a sentiment that lends itself to RV travel, which tends to be slower-paced and easy to modify on the fly.

RVshare also called out another national park, Acadia National Park in Maine, as the “top new destination to look out for in 2025.” Like Grand Canyon National Park, Acadia is also a destination that lends itself to RV travel with two RV-friendly campgrounds on Mount Desert Island and full RV hookups at the newer Schoodic Woods Campground.

No matter what park or scenic area catches your attention in 2025, chances are your RV of choice can be delivered to you. It’s a service that over 70 percent of RVshare’s inventory offers — including vehicles that range from luxury motorhomes to cozy camper vans.
