Police have made two arrests following the tragic shooting of Elle Edwards on Christmas Eve. The make-up artist, aged 26, was in the Lighthouse pub in Wallasey Village, Merseyside, when the shooting occurred just before midnight. It's believed that Elle was not the intended victim of the attack, which officers have described as "cold-blooded". Four others were also injured, with one man currently still receiving treatment in hospital.

Now, as moving tributes pour in, a thirty-year-old man and a nineteen-year-old woman have been arrested in connection to the heartbreaking killing; a man from Tranmere has been arrested under suspicion of murder and attempted murder, and a woman from Rock Ferry was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.

The BBC report that both remain in custody and will be questioned by detectives.

At the scene of the shooting, Elle's sister Lucy, who left the pub shortly before the gun was fired, left flowers and a note reading, "To my Elle May, I love you forever, you will always be by my side. Love Lucy Lou. x"

Further tributes left at the pub include a note signed by Elle's parents, which reads: "To my beautiful Elle, you are the light of my life. You will never be gone."

Commenting on the shooting, Detective Superintendent Sue Coombs said Elle's family are being supported by specialist officers and that the police are still appealing for information from the public. "Elle's family are still having to come to terms with her tragic loss, and our specially trained family liaison officers are supporting them. We will not rest until we bring those responsible to justice.

"I would urge people who were in the Lighthouse Inn at the time of the incident, or anyone who has mobile or CCTV footage of what happened to contact us as a matter of urgency, as they may have information which is vital to our investigation. We are also appealing to motorists and residents in the area, who may have captured anything on Dashcam or CCTV to contact us and every bit of evidence is crucial to the investigation."

Elle's colleagues at the Nova Hair and Beauty Studio in Moreton, Wirral, shared a video compilation of the beautician on Instagram, along with the caption, "Absolutely lost for words… Heaven gained the most beautiful angel 😭🤍 We are all heartbroken, thinking of all of your family right now Elle. Thank you for all of the laughs and happiness you brought into our lives, rest in paradise angel, love from your team at Nova 🙏🏼😭💔".

Our thoughts are with all of Elle's loved ones during this deeply sad time.
