TVB's entertainment news blasted for featuring Ashley Chu

5 May – TVB's entertainment news recently denied that they were downplaying the scandal between Ashley Chu and Jackson Lai by featuring the actress in their new segment where they talked about her struggles as a new actor.

As reported on Mingpao, netizens recently blasted the network for the said two-minute segment, in which the actress talked about the hardship she had gone through being an actress since her Miss Hong Kong pageant days.

Many expressed annoyance by the segment, even blasting producer Barry Cheung for it saying that they were attempting to clean Ashley's image in the public's eye.

In a phone interview with Mingpao recently, Cheung explained that the segment is just a new idea and concept to showcase new actors who are still waiting for opportunities.

"Our mission is to introduce them to the audience so that they could gain more recognition. Ashley is just the first artiste featured in the segment," he said.

When asked why they decided to air Ashley's story during the sensitive period, Cheung said that he didn't think it should be sensitive and that the actress had already apologised for her mistake.
